Gary Douglas Carson, 63, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital. Gary was born Sept. 29, 1953, in South Bend.
Gary enjoyed traveling and loved fishing, water, boating and anything outdoors. He loved his family and was strong, hardworking, honorable, smart, determined and always put others first. Gary instilled great values and morals in his children. He taught them to be strong, loving and to work hard for what you want in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Joann Carson; granddaughter, Leslie Dawn Carson; and brother, Michael Carson.
Gary is survived by his children, Gary N. Carson, Shawn Carson (Tonya) and Mindi Carson, all of Evansville; grandchildren, Jamia, Amy, Caleb, Katelyn, Jake, Dylan, Kayden and Carson; siblings, RaJeanna Carson of Pensacola, Fla., Rebecca "Becky" Sanders of Farmersburg, Pamela "Pam" Davis of Indianapolis, Andrea "Andi" Summerlot of Terre Haute, Bryan Carson of Farmersburg, Eva Rosechlein of Columbia, Ill., Alicia "Lisa" Bailey of Indianapolis, Raymond "Ray" Carson of Greenwood, and John David (Sarah) Carson of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Buddy.
Friends may visit Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. (CDT) Saturday at West Lawn Cemetery in Farmersburg. Gary leaves us with his final salute as a sign of his respect and appreciation for his time spent with us. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
