F. Evelyn's Story

F. Evelyn Black, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away Nov. 23, 2017. She was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Villa Grove, Ill., to William S. Richards and Mary Alice (Froman) Richards.
Evelyn attended First Baptist Church of North Terre Haute. She found Naval Avionics interesting. In the 1940s she helped build the Norton Bomb Site in Indianapolis. She worked in sales for General Telephone, First National Bank of Tuscola, Fashion 220 Cosmetics and Mary Kay. Evelyn was a homemaker, and a great caregiver. She helped many families.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Black; her parents; daughter, Mary Alice Black; son-in-law, Jerry Drake; and siblings, Phillip Richards, John Richards and Edna Mable Slather.
She is survived by her children, Angela Drake, David Black and Larry Black (Nancy); grandchildren, Dean Drake (Elisha), John Drake (Angee), Heather Strohm (Christopher), Joshua Black (Stacy), Daniel Drake, Brian Finley (Barbara) and Julie Adams; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at Macksville Cemetery in Atwood, Ill. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th St., Terre Haute. Online condolences may be made at: www.greinerfuneralhome.com
