Evelyn C. Woodfork Pearson, 75, of Brazil, formerly of Cory, passed away Sept. 20, 2017, at Springhill Village, following a short battle with cancer. She was born May 2, 1942, in Vincennes, Ind., the daughter of William Holloway and Mary Purdue Holloway. She graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School.
In the 1970s she and her family moved to the Cory area. She was an active participant of the Cory Nazarene Church. She was always one to go pick up friends of her daughters and bring them to church. She was strong in her Christian faith and was vocal about her belief. She also attended Union Christian Church.
Evelyn was always a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and canning. She worked in her flowers and each spring would delight in finding mushrooms. Evelyn was very creative and made many fiber arts projects. She could knit, crochet and macramé and took joy in creating.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Holloway; and mother, Mary Holloway Pollock; two brothers, John Holloway and Harold Leroy Holloway; one infant sister, Paula Kay; a half sister, Cheryl Haven; and her friend and sister-in-law, Katie Holloway.
Survivors include her daughters, Christiane Walker (Jesse) and Kelly Maurer (Steven), all of Brazil; Nicole Jeffers (Alan) of Cory; and Evalee Hauer (Paul) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Courtney Broady (Tyler), Kellsy Terrell (A.J.), Griffin Maurer (Rachel), Jordan Maurer (Kylee), Asieavae Jeffers, Avalee Jeffers, Baylee Hauer, Saydee Hauer and Brady Hauer; great-grandchildren, Hayden Broady, Hadley Broady and Ren Terrell; former husband and dear friend, Jerry Woodfork of Clay City; two sisters, Shirley Johnson and Mary Kay Moore; two brothers, Ed Holloway (Elsie) and Jess Pollock (Janann); brother-in-law, Mike Haven; sisters-in-law, Cindy Holloway and Jeanne Holloway; and her special nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary-VanCleve Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Post a note of condolence at:
