Eugene Ciolek, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. He was born on April 13, 1924, in Radymno, Poland.
Eugene is survived by his children, Danny Ciolek of Terre Haute and Nancy Ciolek of Rochester, N.Y.; and two sisters in Poland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Anna Ciolek.
Eugene proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War as a combat medic. After the Army, he served in the United States Air Force, doing a tour in Vietnam as a medic and eventually retiring as a tech sergeant. He worked for several years at Indiana Putnamville Correctional Facility and retired from the state. Eugene was a member of American Legion Post 346 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, where he enjoyed having a few cocktails and visiting with his friends.
