Emma Rosina Sutton, 92, of Brazil, formerly of Ashboro, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Cloverleaf Nursing Home in Knightsville. Emmy was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Mannheim, Germany, to Johannes Otto Max and Anna Elisa Katharina (Schmitt) Sturzwage.
She met Leland Wayne Sutton while he was stationed in Germany and on July 11, 1945, they married. Until her boys were raised, Emmy was a homemaker. She later began work at Adamson's Dry Cleaning and Laundromat, retiring in the mid-1980s. Emmy enjoyed needlepoint and reading, and was a member of Ashboro United Methodist Church for many years.
Emmy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Anna Elisa Drotschman.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Sutton and wife Linda and Leroy Sutton and wife Evelyn, both of Ashboro; three grandchildren, Wayne Sutton of Terre Haute, Sherry Paddock and husband Grady of Centerpoint, and Bryland Sutton and wife Kylee of Indianapolis; five great-grandchildren, Kenny Kauffman and wife Jenae of Terre Haute, Zane and Aubrey Paddock, and Jasper and Eleanor Sutton; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lauren and Emma Kauffman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating and burial to follow at Ashboro Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Clay County Humane Society. Online condolences may be expressed at:
