Dorothy Blocksom Bielfield, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Meadows Manor North. She was born in Prairie Creek, on Oct. 1, 1923, to Boyd Hamilton Blocksom and Esther Irene Bentley Blocksom.
She was preceded in death by parents; and her husband, Charles A. Bielfield, whom she married Aug. 11, 1945, in Nebraska, where Charlie was stationed while in the Air Force. Dorothy also was preceded in death by her brother, Harold "Newt" Blocksom and his wife Jeannie; brother-in-law, Robert Bielfield and his wife Ruby; sister-in-law, Martha Schafer and her husband Kenneth.
She graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1941 and retired in 1965 from Motor Freight Corporation as a key punch operator. Dorothy had previously attended Terre Haute Commercial College from 1941-42 and had additional training from IBMC, and was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Paula Bielfield Wilson, Bruce Bielfield (Sandy), Janet Schafer Jacobs, and Jeannine Schafer Power; her great-nieces and nephews, Ross Wilson (Danyelle), Erica Wilson, Kira Bielfield Williams (Steve), Kyle Bielfield, Jordan Jabobs (Rebecca), Cameron Power and Connor Power; and her great-great-nieces and nephews, Reese Wilson, McKenzie Wilson, Ruby Williams and Jasper Williams.
Dorothy's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Linda Huston and the Cannon Inn staff for the great care and kindness provided.
Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
