INVERNESS, Fla. Dorothy Irene Adams, 82, of Inverness, Florida, passed away on Sept. 8, 2018, at Hospice of Citris and the Nature Coast in Lecanto, Florida.
Dorothy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Aug. 17, 1936, the daughter of Irvin and Gwendolyn (Henson) Clingerman. She married John W. Adams on June 1, 1996, and they moved to Florida in 1999. Dorothy attended Bowling Green High School and worked at the Double N Diner as a cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Gwendolyn Clingerman; a brother, Lewis Clingerman; a nephew, Daniel Clingerman; and a brother-in-law, John "Smoke" Ellison.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, John W. Adams of Iverness, Florida; two sons, Michael Grove and wife Linda of Brazil, Indiana, and Larry Grove and wife Cindy of Staunton, Indiana; two daughters, Madonna Grove of Chicago, Illinois, and Linda Kay Certa of Grand Junction, Arizona; her brother and sister, Dean Clingerman and wife Debby of Brazil, and Wilma Ellison of Brazil, Indiana; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, Indiana, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday. Services will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bowling Green, Indiana.
