BRAZIL - Dennis E. Church, 73, of Brazil, went to be with his Lord on March 13, 2018, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on July 22, 1944, in Seymour, the son of Hubert and Alice Church.
Dennis graduated from Brazil High School class of 1963. During high school he was a center for the football team. He also played baseball and basketball.
He enlisted into the United States Army, the day after graduating high school, where he served for 20 years. During his tenure he served two tours in Vietnam. He was stationed in many places around the world including South Korea, West Germany, Turkey, and the United States as a member of the 7th Special Forces Group. After being honorably discharged in 1983 he moved his family back to his home town of Brazil.
He attended Ivy Tech where he earned an associate's degree that he put to use at Shenandoah - now Lear Corporation - as a maintenance technician. He retired at the age of 62 years old.
The most important part of Dennis' life was his faith in Jesus Christ. He loved his wife, his children, and grandchildren dearly. Dennis was a patriot and had a deep love of country. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports of all kinds, making bluebird houses for his many bluebirds, playing euchre with family and drinking coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Alice Church; a brother, Edward Church; a half-brother, Jim Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Church of Brazil; children, Debbie Hill and husband Matt of Terre Haute and Paul Church and wife Vicki of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Erin Hill and Gina Hill, both of Terre Haute, Madison Church, Dayton Church, Landon Church and Morgan Church, all of Littleton; and a half-brother, Bob Jackson of Michigan.
Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, Ind., 47834, on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at Clearview Cemetery, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. Dennis was a devoted member of Journey Assembly of God, 600 Hulman St., Terre Haute, IN 47802.
