Delsephine's Story

Delsephine (Delsie) L. Johnson Williams Bryant, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away Jan. 24, 2018, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born July 4, 1930, in Seelyville, to Levi and Mamie (Fagg) Johnson, where she spent a joyful childhood with family and friends.
In 1948 she married Gilbert Williams and they have a son, James Williams and a daughter, Rita Williams Downey, both of Terre Haute. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Amber Downey of Terre Haute; a stepgrandson, Scott Wellinger and wife Christine and their children Lauren, Cole and Jorden, all of Hilton Head, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a loving companion, Don Seeley Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Bryant; sister, Irene and brother-in-law Art Coleman; sister, Mary Rosalie and brother-in-law Buddy Mullins; and her parents.
She was employed at Quaker Maid from 1951-1954 and after raising her children she was employed at CBS as a postal clerk from 1967-1980. She attended Glenn High School. She had many hobbies and interests among them crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Eagles Aerie, where she was a Golden Eagle. She was a 45-year member of the Terre Haute Women of the Moose, Chapter 336, where she earned degrees of Academy of Friendship and College of Regents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Avenue. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until service time. The service will begin with a memorial given by the Women of the Moose followed by The Rev. Tim Fagg. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
