Deloris's Story

Deloris Mae Jackson, 77, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away at home, August 13, 2017 following a battle with cancer.

She was born in Clay County, Indiana on September 30, 1939, the daughter of Marcus Humble and Norma (Fiscus) Humble. Deloris graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1957. In her younger years she worked for Bell Telephone in Ellettsville, Indiana. Most of her life she ran a home day care which she enjoyed very much. She also enjoyed sewing, playing cards, flower gardening, reading and spending time with her friends and neighbors at Clay City Senior Housing.

She was preceded in death by her father Marcus Humble, her mother Norma Beatty, twin daughters: Brenda Kay and Linda May Jackson; the father of her children Darrell R. Jackson, two great-grandchildren: Brendan Noblitt and Riley Noblitt; and a sister Janice Knapp.

She is survived by 4 children: Ronnie Jackson and wife Linda of Clay City, Indiana, Sandra Fry and husband Ray of Memphis, Indiana, Sara Strain and husband Walter of Cory, Indiana and Diana Jackson Walker and husband Chris of Clay City, Indiana; her beloved dog Sasha; grandchildren: Melinda Hendrix (Carson), Matt Jackson (Jessica), Mitchell Jackson, Jennifer Thomas (Michael), Jessica Hatfield (Mike), Brittany Rood (Wes Hodgson), Lacey Rood, Olivia Jackson, Levi Walker, Kasen Walker, Penny Wineinger (Scott), Heather Garlit, Courtney Day and Heath Dalton; great-grandchildren: Becca Hatfield, Baylor Noblitt, Camryn Thomas, Mason Thomas, Hayden Hatfield, Diesel Jackson, Skylar Jackson, Stella Jackson, Hadley Wineinger, Jake Garlit, Kylee Garlit, Danielle Garlit, Blade Saey, and Tucker Dalton; siblings: Donald Fiscus of Jacksonville, Florida, Marcus Humble Jr. and wife Sandy of Fountain, Florida, Loretta Hart of Patricksburg, Indiana; her best friend Barb Houk as well as several extended family members and friends.
