Delbert F. Pullum, 98, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at his home on May 12, 2019.
Delbert was born on June 23, 1920, in Sullivan County, Indiana, the son of Carl "Jack" Esten Pullum and Zelma Pullum (Terry). He graduated from Hymera High School with the class of 1938. Following high school he enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps. During his time with the corps he was sent to bakers' training. This afforded him the opportunity to serve in the United States Navy Seabees as a baker. As a civilian he worked at the bottling factory in Terre Haute. Most of his life was spent working as a auto body repairman for Jim Harris Chevrolet in Greencastle. He retired from Mark E. French and Son's in Brazil at the age of 72. When he wasn't working at the dealership's he ran a body repair shop at his home which he continued well after retirement.
He married Thelma Metheny on February 13, 1941. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2016, after 75 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents Carl and Zelma Pullum; siblings Doyne Pullum, Gerald "Tub" Pullum and June Lollar; and a son-in-law Earl Bryan.
Survivors include his daughter Barbara Sue Bryan of Florida, and a son Gerry Pullum and wife Kay; grandchildren Doug Bryan (Crystal), Reba Bryan Hierholzer (Jack), Kathy Pullum Weir (Kevin) and Kevin Pullum (Nicole); and sisters Janice Williams and Wanda Jones (Wayne); as well as several, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, Indiana, on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 2 until 5 p.m. Services will follow at 5 p.m. with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2901 Ohio Blvd #116, Terre Haute, IN 47803, or a charity of your choice, in his memory.

So many memories I have throughout my life of “Uncle Del and Aunt Thelma”. Still to this day I just can’t say one name without saying the other. They just went together and when the pair was split apart there was great sadness for all who loved them. Now once again they are together and I for one am joyful they have been reunited. Their love will last throughout eternity.

Delbert fixed my 1957 Chevy convertible in 1963 after I wrecked it on So. 59 in Brazil..He was a master at his trade. May he RIP..
