Debra "Sue" Mitchell, 65, of West Terre Haute passed away at 10:39 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, in Union Hospital at Terre Haute. She retired from the Zachry Group Construction Company at West Terre Haute due to her illness. She was born March 18, 1952, at Terre Haute, to Gilbert R. Elliott and Josephine Neal Elliott.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Ronda Mitchell; a brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Betty Bea Elliott; three grandchildren, Megan Howard and her husband David, Shelby Mitchell and her companion Austin, and Trevor Mitchell; two nieces, Melissa Kanizer and her children Kyler, London, and Lucee, and Robin Maurer and her children Jada and Jazzy; a nephew, Gilbert Lee Elliott Jr.; and her "adopted" children Sandi Eller and Clint Gregory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Troy Mitchell; a brother, David Elliott; several aunts and uncles; and her best friend, Linda Spurr. Sue was a graduate of West Vigo High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially at her camp on the Wabash River and golf cart rides.
According to her wishes, cremation has been scheduled. A graveside service and burial of ashes will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, in Pleasantview Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
