David L. Funk, 69, of West Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in his home following a holiday weekend filled with family and friends. He was born Feb. 9, 1948, to Leonald C. Funk and Beulah F. Funk. An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, and foraging for morels. In his professional life, he served as the longtime owner of A&B Roofing and Siding as well as Kasameyer Glass, which he founded with his father-in-law, Herbert Wardle.
Survivors include his wife and business partner, Deborah Denise Wardle Funk; his son, Dustin Funk; his daughter, Danielle Funk and her partner Luke Meyers; his sister, Deanna Strader and her husband David; his brother, Dennis Funk and his wife Cyndi; his parents-in-law, Herbert Wardle and his wife Roma Wardle; his sister-in-law, Cheri Woolley and her husband Bob; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, David served in Vietnam as his company's supply clerk. He later became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the American Legion. Active in Terre Haute's masonic community, he was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and Twelve Points Lodge 769 Free & Accepted Masons. He additionally held membership in the Sullivan County Shrine Club and the Zorah Shrine Temple.
Friends and family will celebrate David's life at The Landing in Wabash Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017.
