David Lee Cooper, 64, of Bloomington, and formerly of Terre Haute, died Jan. 4, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital with family at his side. He was born Nov. 5, 1953, to Theodore Charles Cooper and Florence Manuel Cooper, in Terre Haute.
Survivors include his mother, Florence of Terre Haute; sister, Beverly Cooper Bailey of Terre Haute; two brothers, Rocco and Angelo Cooper, both of Terre Haute; aunts, Barbara Manuel of Dayton, Ohio, Edith Thomas and Bonnie Hatter, both of Chicago; caregiver Helen Hillenburg of Bloomington; and neices, nephews, cousins, in-laws and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore; sisters, Pamela, Brenda and Bonita; and brothers, Gary, Anthony, Manuel, Keith and Garold Wayne.
He graduated from South High School and went on to Indiana State College and worked at Cantabury Nursing Home and in 1981 he moved to Bloomington, Ind., and started to teach at Bloomington North High School. Also worked at Bloomington Country Club. He was a member of Victory Temple Church.
Funeral services are 12 noon Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Bethlehem Temple Church, 13th and Washington, Terre Haute, with Bishop Dr. Tino Smith officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services Saturday, at the church. The sacred trust was given to Russell Funeral Home.
