Dale Richard Swift, 90, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born August 30, 1927 in Terre Haute to Charles Virgil Swift and Margaret Rachel Pearson Swift. Dale worked at Visqueen for 37 years.
Survivors include his wife, Joan P. Eggleston Swift; daughters, Mary (John) Wade, Carolyn McDowell, Joy Throckmorton, and Peggy (Kevin) McKee; brother, James (Donna) Swift; sister-in-law, Juanita Eggleston; grandchildren, John Michael Wade, Amy (Matt) Price, Joseph Throckmorton, Christy (Dave) Folkner, Jennifer (Pete) Glesing, Stephanie (Kevin) Kempf, and Jessica (Erik) Nomm; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; special nephew, William (Janet) Swift; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Arthur Watson; brothers, Harry Swift and Jack Swift; granddaughter, Carolanne Wade; and great granddaughter, Megan Wade.
Dale was a World War II Army veteran where he served as a mess sergeant in the medical corp. He was a member of American Legion Post #104 and golfed in the Rea Park Senior Men's League. Dale's motto was "Family is the most important thing".
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Marvin Cheek officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery with military services by American Legion Post #104. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.
