Cora Rae Wineland, 80, of Marshall, Ill., and formerly of Chrisman, Ill., passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at Life's Journey in Paris, Ill. She was born Dec. 8, 1937, in West Salem, Ill., the daughter of Robert and Rae Howery Walker.
She was formerly the administrative assistant to Babe Woodard during his terms both an Illinois State Representative and State Senator. Following that position she was employed at the Danville Correctional Center.
Surviving are her husband, Mitchell Wineland; a son, Rob (Cathi) Wineland of Indianapolis; a daughter, Cyndie Wineland of San Antonio; two granddaughters, Abigail Rae Ann Wineland and Alissa Catherine Wineland; and two sisters, Sara (Bob) Morris of Chrisman and Harriett Fouts of Marshall.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall and Order of the Eastern Star in Chrisman. She was a graduate of Chrisman High School, where she was the Salutatorian of her class.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. CST Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 702 Plum St., Marshall, with the Rev. Richard Lewis officiating.
