Connie D. Gibbons, 62, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home. She was born April 24, 1955, in Terre Haute, to Gene Niece and Lillie (Long) Kinney. She married Michael Gibbons Sr. on April 23, 1975.
Connie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Gibbons Sr.; children, Sherry Sears and husband David, Terry Gibbons and partner Hayley Meier, Michael Gibbons Jr. and wife Rachel, and Lisa Gibbons, all of Terre Haute; father, Gene Niece; mother, Lillie Kinney; brother-in-law, Jeff Gibbons and wife Tammy of Yucca Valley, Calif.; stepsister, Lori Burchfield; stepbrother, Joe Beal; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Connie worked as a cook for 17 years at Thompson's Family Diner. She was always intrigued by paranormal investigation and enjoyed watching shows about ghost hunting. She also liked to play games on her phone. Connie enjoyed camping even though she didn't go as often as she would have liked. Her 1973 Plymouth Duster was her pride and joy and she would often take her grandchildren out for a cruise in it. Connie also enjoyed the simple things in life, like relaxing on her deck or by the fire pit. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Connie had an amazing sense of humor. She also, however, had a stubborn streak, which she passed on to her children.
A visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be expressed at:
