Clara's Story

Clara Louise Endicott, 92, a lifelong resident of St. Bernice, died at 3:16 p.m. Feb. 12, 2018, in Terre Haute. She was born March 10, 1925, in St. Bernice, to Earl Clinton Cook and Gladys May Bunton Cook.
She was a graduate of St. Bernice High School. She had worked for G.C. Murphy, a cook for St. Bernice School, worked at Columbia Records, and for Dr. Lawrence Webb in Dana. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Dana, where she was the past worthy matron, the E. and G. Birthday Club, had been active in the PTA, active in the Vermillion County 4-H Extension and was very artistic and loved painting. She was a very devoted wife and mother to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cheryl Weatherman; five sisters, Maxine Avenatti, Earlene Frink, Jean Lemen, Sharon Huffaker, and Rhea Dawn Bickel; and one brother, Bob Cook.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood Endicott of St. Bernice, whom she married Aug. 27, 1941, in Morganfield, Ky.; son-in-law, Bill Weatherman of Clinton; daughters, Saundra and Steve Kaufman of Clinton, Leigh Ann and Earl Vogel of Terre Haute, and Aimee and Nic Bruns of Wheaton, Ill.; grandchildren, Lisa and Clint Davis, Kristi Evans, Dieter and Jocelyn Kaufman, Kathy Kaufman, Erika and Joe Mrdja, Jon and Dawn Kanizer, David and Sarah Kanizer, Jody and Missy Kanizer, Amanda Carroll, Khara and Michael Bond, Ryan and Carla Reynolds, Kailey Bruns, and Nicolaus Bruns; great-grandchildren, Lee Davis, Riley Davis, Keely Davis, Richey Evans, Jordy Evans, Christopher and Kayla Evans, Brynlee Kaufman, Dawson Mrdja, Grady Mrdja, Ashton Mrdja, Edith Louise Mrdja, Zachary and Christina Kanizer, Lauren Kanizer, Emilee Kanizer, Abigail Kanizer, Victoria Kanizer, Cole Kanizer, Madeline Kanizer, Tyler Kanizer, Hayden Kanizer, Olivia Kanizer, Nicholas Goar, Gavin Goar, Claire Wills, Karinne Bond, Kaitlynn Bond, Khari Bond, Kaiden Reynolds, and Hadley Reynolds; and great-great-grandchildren, Bowden Evans, Berkley Evans, Brandon Kanizer, Hunter Kanizer, Karson Kanizer, Charlee Leanne Kanizer, and Madison Kanizer; her brother, Harry and Violet Cook of Terre Haute; and sisters, Joan McBride of Bedford and Betty and Neil King of Tremont, Ill.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Frist Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene in St. Bernice with the Rev. Garrett Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene in St. Bernice.
