Cheryle Lynn Davis, 67, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, due to complications from battling cancer. She was born April 23, 1950 in Terre Haute, to Robert Hensley Mason and Lois Maxine (Little) Glenn.
Cheryle (Sherry) was a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church, where she spent a great amount of time serving the Lord. She could be found cleaning, organizing, decorating, leading Children's Church, teaching Sunday school, helping out with church programs, or serving funeral dinners. Cheryle was a volunteer at Union Hospital for many years and volunteered at her daughter's school, Terre Town Elementary, for many years as well. She was also a member of Lydia's Ladies, a community outreach mission.
She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren and cared for them weekly. She genuinely loved and always looked forward to hosting yearly Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for her family and friends. She was an amazing cook! She enjoyed shopping for antiques and looking for bargains at yard sales and auctions. She loved history and believed in preserving it to share with others. She also enjoyed going on spontaneous road trips, that were determined on the "flip of a coin" by her husband Mike. She loved visiting state parks and always looked forward to the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival! She found great joy in helping others! She had a true servant's heart and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Michael William Davis; daughter, Stephanie Lynn Davis McVey, her husband Kenneth McVey III; grandsons, Keanan Michael McVey and Kormic James McVey; granddaughter, Lyndsey West-McVey; sisters, Tracy McCarty and Sharon Heinz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry (Joyce) Davis; nieces, Shannon (Steven) Rollf, Candace (Steven) McCune, Kimberley Ogden; nephews, Charles Miller II, Matthew Glenn-Ford; aunt, Dorothy Padgett; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Prendre' Lee Miller; and nephew, Truman (Ted) Ogden.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. in North Terre Haute Christian Church, 3133 E. Park Ave. Ernie Baysinger and Kevin Collenbaugh will officiate. Burial services will take place in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from 4 until 8 p.m.
