Charles's Story

DANA Charles Ronald Rairdon, 74, of Dana, died at 7:47 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2017, in his residence. He was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Martinsville, Ind., to Herman Rairdon and Dorothy Richardson Rairdon.
He was an Indiana State Policeman from 1967 until his retirement in 1994, when he retired as Lieutenant Post Commander for the Putnamville Post. From 1998-2015, he was director of security at Saint-Mary-of the Woods College. He was a US Army veteran, serving from 1962-1965.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Nina and Larry Gooch, Pat and Orville Soots, and Jo and Glen Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Adrian Rairdon of Dana; one son, Chris Rairdon of Cloverdale; two stepdaughters, Shanna and Shayne Vanatti of Clinton and Lisa Ennen of Clinton; two grandchildren, Jacob Rairdon and Trinity Rairdon; four step-grandchildren, Devin Vanatti, Dalton Vanatti, Damen Scott, and Chase Scott; one brother, Clint and Chris Rairdon of Whiteland; a best friend, Lanny Fields of Cloverdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Frist Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at:
