Charles 'C.J.' Francis

Charles "C.J." Francis, age 73, of Gibson City, Ill., and formerly of Kingman, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, Ill. He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on Aug. 21, 1944, to the late Robert L. and Edith M. (Brazzel) Francis.
C.J. graduated from Hymera High School; and on Oct. 5, 1974, in Gibson City, Ill., he married the love of his life, Sharron D. (Hutchcraft) Francis, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2013. He was a lifelong Teamster truck driver who drove for Commercial Lovelace, Transcon and Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Retirees. He was the world's greatest fisherman and a world-renowned baby hog. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife at the lake and traveling the country in their R.V. He was a gamecock breeder, guitar picker, heartbreaker, squirrel hunter and food connoisseur. He was a tomato-growing champion and loved life to the fullest.
He is survived by three sons, Tracy Mott of Elliott, Ill., Mike Francis of Marshall, Ill., and Chuck (Millie) Francis of Gibson City, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Nielson of Dugger, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharron; and three brothers, Bob, Dick and Hal Francis.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S. First St., in Kingman, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, from noon till the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Sanders Funeral Care is entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at:
