Charles T. Ferguson, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, in Union Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Harold Ferguson and Mary Simmons Ferguson.
Charles was a teacher for the Vigo County School Corporation for 30 years; after retiring he drove a school bus for many years. Charles taught driver's education, accounting and typing. He was registered tax return preparer and owned and operated Ferguson Tax Service. Charles loved golf and had a hole in 1. He coached golf at Honey Creek Jr. High. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of Terre Haute Competition Rides. He also was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 86.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Sharon Ferguson; his three daughters, Le Ann Moore and her husband, David, Lisa Lively and her husband Bruce, all of Terre Haute, and Laura Wright and her husband Larry of Greenwood. He also is survived by his brother, Jerry Ferguson of Greenwood; his sister, Julie Elliott and her husband Ken, of Tolona, Ill.; his grandchildren, Justin Moore, Josh Moore, Jennifer Moore, Nick Lively, Megan Fisher and Miranda Lively; his great-grandchildren, Colten Moore, Easton Moor and Raelyn Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.
In honor of Charles' wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at 7 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute; with a gathering of friends and family from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Dustin Spitler will be officiating. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
