Carole Mae (Anderson) Capps, 70, of Terre Haute, and formerly of the Whitestown and Lebanon area, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Harrison Crossing Health Campus in Terre Haute. She was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Victor and Cora Mae (Townsend) Anderson.
Raised in Boone County, Carole attended Whitestown High School.
She was married to James D. Capps on Dec. 12, 1962, in Whitestown. They later divorced.
Carole was a beautician for many years. She owned and operated Beauty by Carole in Lebanon until her retirement in 1992. She moved to Aruba and then in 1998, she moved back to Indiana to live closer to her daughter in Terre Haute.
Carole was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing tennis, travelling, and crocheting.
Survivors include daughter, Julia Capps (Brent) Stoelting of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Brenna (Justin) Steele of Avon, Wyatt Stoelting of Terre Haute, and Dillon Stoelting of Santa Ynez, Calif.; brother, Ted R. (Nancy) Anderson of Lebanon; sister, Norma Smith of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her son, James Stanley Capps; a brother, Robert Anderson; and a sister, Shirley Hammerle.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon St., in Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Lebanon. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in Carole's honor to The Recovery Ranch Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1898, Santa Ynez, CA 93460. This fund was dear to her heart as it helped save her grandson's life.
The family would like to thank Harrison Crossing Health Campus for the special care they devoted to Carole.
