Carol Ann Compton Carol Ann Compton, 61, of Avon and formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away at 3:28 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at IU Health West Hospital in Avon. She was born in Terre Haute on Jan. 9, 1958, to Eugene Hansel and Betty Elmerick Hansel.
Carol had previously worked as a cook for the Vigo County School Corp. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of West Terre Haute and enjoyed doing crafts and playing games, but most of all, she loved her family.
Carol is survived by two daughters, Melissa Compton and Julie Moore (husband Billy); as well as three grandchildren, Nicole Meacham (husband Derrick), Billy Moore and Emily Moore. She also leaves behind a brother, Bill Hansel (Colleen); and a sister, Sandra Kelley (husband Pat); as well as nieces and nephews, Charity Fischer (husband Kelly), Lori Porter, Doug Hansel (wife Kristi), Michael Kelley (fiancée Jackie), Gina Pugh, (husband Bob), Jesse, Ciara, Kendall, Kimberly, Amber, Brianna, Ava, Ella, Garrett, Aubrey, Brody and Adlee.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Patricia Hansel.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Robin Blansett officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home.

Carol was one of the most selfless people I've ever met. She represented Jesus well. Thank Goodness we'll see each other again.
