Betty's Story

Betty Kathryn Zachary, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, in Union Hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1927, to Roger Ashby and Lillian Sellers Ashby, in Webster County, Ky.
Betty was a hard-working woman for many years. She was a factory worker for 33 years in Henderson, Ky. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and a lovely friend to many. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, and reading the Bible. She was a huge fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. Some of her many talents included gardening, sewing and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Zachary; son, Michael Zachary; and her five siblings. Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rita Elrod; two grandchildren, Anthony M. Zachary (Amy) and Susan Crittenden; nine grandchildren, Jessica Schultz, Victoria Godfrey (Trevor), Abby Cramer, Samantha Crittenden, Tanner Zachary, Sarah Crittenden, Savannah Crittenden, Zachary Jones and Summer Harris; one great-great-granddaughter, Olyvia Godfrey; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Betty will be held at Samaritan Funeral Home at 25th and Wabash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, with services starting at 1. Cremation will take place after. Michael Bowman will be officiating. Online condolences may be left at:
