Berniece Hoggatt, 94, of Marshall, Ill., passed away 7:57 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 9, 1923, in New Berlin, Ill., the daughter of William and Elizabeth Randall Austin
She married Elmer R. Hoggatt Jr. on March 29, 1947, in Auburn, rural Clark County, Ill., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2002.
Surviving are her children, Paul (Laurie) Hoggatt of Marshall, Marilyn (Camie) Sanders of Marshall, Jimmie (Linda) Hoggatt of Troy, Ill., and Robin (Bob) Schoenbeck of Arnold, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Trudeau of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ron Trudeau; a grandson, Terry Sanders; four brothers, Harold Stroud, Glen Stroud, Guy Austin and Russell Austin; a sister, Ruth Hansen; and two half brothers, Glen and Gil Austin.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 739 and the Pythian Sisters. For many years was a Cub Scout Leader and trainer. She loved doing crafts, sewing for her family and making quilts.
Services in honor her life will be 2 p.m. CST Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastors Tim and Bill Duke officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn Cemetery Association. Online condolences are being accepted at:
