CORNELIUS, N.C. - Barbara Ann Kearschner, 56, of Cornelius, N.C., passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2017. Barbara was born Sept. 5, 1960, in Gainesville, Fla., the daughter of Paul and Margaret Dailey.
In 1962, Barbara's family moved to Terre Haute, Ind., where she attended St. Patrick's Elementary and Schulte High School. Barbara enjoyed athletics and was very active in track and field, gymnastics, cheerleading and especially dance. She graduated with a B.S. in computer science from Indiana State University, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and ISU Sparkettes. After graduation, Barbara and Mark Kearschner were married on Aug. 18, 1984. They lived in Ann Arbor, Mich., where their son, Alex, was born on Oct. 10, 1989. While in Ann Arbor, Barbara earned an additional B.S. in occupational therapy from Eastern Michigan. She specialized in occupational therapy for the elderly.
Barb, as her friends knew her, was a kind, loving, generous and loyal friend. She had many close and long-lasting friendships and never met a stranger. Barbara was an active parishioner at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Huntersville, N.C., where she served as an usher, volunteered with Room at the Inn, St. Mark Disability Mass, Hope House and Operation Christmas Child. She was always inspired to help those in need.
Barbara was a loving wife to Mark and devoted mother to Alex, the joys of her life. She lived a life of faith, family and friendships. She is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; and son Alex; sisters, Janice Dailey and Mary Wells (Mark); and brother, Robert Dailey; in-laws, Dick and June Kearschner; sister-in-law, Pam (John) Bradfield; one niece; four nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
