Annabeth Smith, 82, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 29, 2017. Born in Martinsville, Ind., Sept.13, 1935, to the late Harlan and Flossie (Freeman) Jamison.
Annabeth was a retired food service director for South Putnam School Corporation after 18 years. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Amity Baptist Church. Annabeth was known to be a great cook, especially her beef and noodles.
She married Elvin (Epp) Smith, on July 30, 1955. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1992.
She is survived by her children, Gordon E. Smith and his wife Donna, Joyce L. Smith, Greg Smith and his wife Twila and Julia Smith Stephens and her husband Bruce; grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Racheal, Evan and Shannon; sisters, Doris Myers and Freida Pettijohn; thee great-grandchildren; and her cats, Zero and Buttercup.
Annabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Jennifer Smith; grandson, Michael Dowell; siblings, Parks Jamison, Hoyt Jamison, Kenneth Jamison, Reba Sanders, Evelyn Chaney and Vivian Haase.
Visitation for Annabeth will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Followed by a private graveside service due to extreme weather. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Humane Society. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
