Alberta Coleman Johnson, 81, of Greensburg, Ky., formerly of Marshall, Ill., and West Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at her daughter's home in Greensburg. She was born April 4, 1936, in Marshall, Ill., to Albert Higgins and Helen Elder Higgins.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Lee Coleman Sr.; and her second husband, Emerole "E.J." Johnson. Survivors include four daughters, Jackie Roberts and her husband Tom, Teresa Rutledge and her husband Marshall, Angie Coleman and her companion Christopher Baxter, and Helen Coleman and her spouse Becky; two sisters, Margaret Pitts and Glenda Knott; a brother, Fred Higgins; 18 grandchildren, Kimberly Coleman Rose, Johnny Lee Coleman, David Wayne Coleman, Amy Roberts, Connie Hylman, Tommy Roberts, Shelly Kennedy, Gina Kennedy, Marsha Young, Corey Rutledge, Scooter Rutledge, Bill Pittman, Dustin Weger, Donnie Lee Snow, Albert Wayne Snow, and Shane, Kelsey, and Janey Reedy; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Junior. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Lee Coleman Jr.; a daughter, Colena Louise Patterson Coleman; her boyfriend, John Benard; a brother, David Higgins; a granddaughter, Nichol Patricia Kennedy; a grandson, Butch Michael Ray Coleman; and a great-grandson, Ronald "R.J." Weger Jr.
She enjoyed NASCAR, watching wrestling and attending auctions.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday. The family kindly suggests that, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta Johnson Memorial Fund with envelopes available in the funeral home.
