Albert Russell "Rusty" McQueary McKown, 74, of Terre Haute, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, in his home. He was born July 2, 1943, in West Terre Haute.
He had served as a deputy sheriff with the Vigo County Sheriff's Department for many years and also was employed many years as a conductor with Conrail Railroad.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny McKown and Robert E. McKown and his wife Jo Lynn; two sisters, Peggy Phillips and her husband Mike and Becky Rogers and her husband Rick; eight grandchildren, Matt McKown, Jake McKown, John Mckown, Kimi K. McKown, Kaylee McKown, Jase Thomas McKown, Albert Joseph "A.J." McKown, and Abby McKown; two great-grandchildren, Chloe McKown and Liam Rector; a special friend to whom the family would like to extend a special thank you, Judy McCain; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ron McKown; his parents, Helen and Robert McQueary; a brother, Tom "Moose" McQueary; and a step brother, Bob McQueary.
He was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed NASCAR and attending races, watching the weather channel and the evening news, and playing cards. He loved life and loved his family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and prior to services Monday.
